Cold mystery is a song named after a puzzling mystery of why so many people in the world prefer receiving so much of their information, inspiration, and enjoyment sitting at home watching television as opposed to going out into the world to explore and experience more elements first- hand. The song embodies a notion that reality tv and rudimentary sports events give rise to couch potatoes whom may inevitably self-destruct and feel destroyed or hurt by their own physical deterioration as a result later on in life, either by way of extreme weight gain, or perhaps the illusion that physical life is actually lived as it is shown on tv. Artistically, the song challenges american idol and its brother and sister networks as culprits that strip the rock n roll mojo from everyone who becomes too overly influenced by such programs.
While not condemning film, news, and other media stations, the song merely expresses that it remains a mystery how people seemingly end up locked into their homes or apartments on a nightly basis enchanted by a television screen as opposed to real human interaction.
